Third-party software
Section titled “Third-party software”GurtOS is built from other people's work, each under its own licence. The main parts:
| Component | Where it is used | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| Ubuntu 24.04 packages | The OS images and the Ubuntu install | Each package's own licence, mostly free and open source |
| Node.js | Runs the core, the apps and the portal's build | MIT, with bundled components under their own licences |
| SpacetimeDB | Live task and approval tables | Business Source License 1.1, which becomes AGPL-3.0 with a linking exception in 2031 |
| Factory's Droid CLI | The agent inside each task | Factory's terms. It is not in the images: each box downloads it from Factory on first start |
| Preact, esbuild | The portal | MIT |
| Atkinson Hyperlegible Next and Mono | The portal's and these docs' fonts | SIL Open Font License 1.1 |
| Adwaita symbolic icons (GNOME) | The portal's icons | CC BY-SA 3.0 or LGPL-3.0 |
| Papirus icons, Bibata cursors | GurtOS Personal's icon theme | GPL-3.0 |
| Astro, Starlight, Pagefind | These docs | MIT |
The licence report lists the licence of every package in each image, and each release has a software bill of materials per image.
Model providers and apps that call outside services, such as Anthropic, Factory, Jira, Elastic, Stripe or Apify, are used under your own account and that provider's terms.
